Case Notes

18F-FDG PET/CT is indicated 6 to 8 weeks after the end of chemotherapy for patients with stage II/III seminoma if there is a residual mass on CT sizing ≥3 cm.

Phase II CarPET study suggests that interim FDG PET after single-cycle carboplatin treatment could guide treatment planning. Patients with an excellent metabolic response on interim PET had received only 3 cycles of chemotherapy, achieving a 97% progression-free survival and 100% overall survival in 2-year follow-up.
